Is an LBZ Duramax still worth buying?
I keep hearing that the LBZ Duramax is one of the desirable pre-DPF diesel trucks, but many listings are older and expensive.

An LBZ Duramax can still be worth buying when the condition justifies the price. Buyers like the platform because it is pre-DPF, has strong aftermarket support, and is often viewed as one of the cleaner Duramax generations to own. The tradeoff is age. You are not only buying an engine; you are buying an older truck with possible rust, worn suspension, tired steering, aging wiring, interior wear, and transmission history that matters. Look for records, stock or well-documented tuning, clean cold starts, no coolant pressure symptoms, no fuel leaks, no major rust, and an Allison transmission that behaves correctly. If the seller is pricing it like a collector truck, the documentation and condition need to match.
