Should I buy a 4x4 or 4x2 diesel truck?
I am comparing similar diesel trucks where the 4x2 listing is cheaper, but I am not sure how much 4x4 matters.

Buy 4x4 if you regularly deal with snow, mud, steep boat ramps, job sites, rural roads, hunting land, or resale markets where four-wheel drive is expected. Buy 4x2 if you mostly tow or commute on pavement, want lower purchase price, fewer front-end parts, and slightly simpler ownership. The important part is matching the truck to actual use. A 4x2 dually can be a great highway towing truck. A 4x4 single rear wheel truck may be better for mixed weather and unpaved access. Inspect both carefully: 4x4 adds transfer case, front differential, axle, hubs, and driveline parts that need to work correctly.
